First Aid At Work

A Health & Safety Compliant Course that complies with the Health & Safety Regulations 1981 (updated) and the Approved Code of Practice.
L74 Guidelines for the qualifications of workplace First Aiders.

Who Should Attend?
Where an employer has carried out a risk assessment and identified a need for fully qualified First Aider, a person(s) should be nominated for training.

The person nominated should:

  • Possess an aptitude to absorb new knowledge and skills.
  • Have duties that do not prevent them going immediately to an emergency.
  • Anyone wanting to gain a nationally recognised qualification in First Aid.
  • People who want to improve knowledge of First Aid (personal or work requirements).

What will you learn?
The course will give candidates the knowledge and confidence to deal with a First Aid in the work place (or home). Candidates will gain practical skills in dealing with First Aid (resuscitation and bandaging). The required skills and knowledge to be a First Aider in the work place.

Course Content

  • Principles & Priorities of First Aid, First Aid Kits, Accident Forms.
  • Safe Assessment of a situation
  • Basic Life Support Management
  • Management of an unconscious casualty

Assessment and treatment of:

  • Bleeding
  • Shock
  • Choking
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Heart Attacks
  • Heat Stroke
  • Poisoning
  • Diabetes
  • Crush Injuries
  • Disorders of the Airway
  • Epilepsy
  • Fractures
  • Head Injuries
  • Stroke
  • Hypothermia
  • Asthma
  • Eye Injuries
  • Anaphylaxis
    Any site specific needs for First Aid Requirements will be discussed.

Certification
Upon completion of the Three day course and successfully completing final assessment successful candidates receive a HSE–Compliant certificate to allow them to practise for three years with a recommendation from Health and Safety to complete a three Hour update each year for two years, after which a Two day re-qualification course becomes necessary. (Level 3)
