Who Should Attend?
Any person involved in sport. All sport coaches must hold a First Aid Qualification according to each sport awarding body.
The person nominated should:
- Possess an aptitude to absorb new knowledge and skills.
- Have duties that do not prevent them going immediately to an emergency.
- Anyone coaching sports.

What will you learn?
The course will give candidates the knowledge and confidence to deal with a First Aid Emergency on the sporting arena or in the club house/changing rooms.
Course Content
- Understand the role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions;
- Understand the importance of basic hygiene in first aid procedures;
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;
- Demonstrate how to administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure;
- Demonstrate how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation promptly and effectively;
- Demonstrate how to administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock;
- Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is choking;
- Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who suffering from injuries to soft tissues.
- Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who suffering from injuries to bones.
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries.
Certification
Upon completion of the course successful candidates receive a certificate of attendance to allow them to practise for three years after which a full re-qualification course becomes necessary. (NVQ Level 2)
